Western Illinois Chapter of
Farm Safety 4 Just Kids

Our Mission

On December 28, 1995, Jeff, Cindy and Jordan Gerard of Pittsfield, Illinois lost their son and brother Colin in a farm accident. Jeff, Cindy & Jordan Gerard

Just six years old, Colin's coat became tangled in a power take-off and he was gone in minutes.

The result of that tragic accident was the formation of the Western Illinois Chapter of Farm Safety 4 Just Kids dedicated to Colin's memory so that we may not lose any more of our precious children in farm accidents.

A part of the national Farm Safety 4 Just Kids organization, the Chapter's mission is to prevent farm-related childhood injuries, health risks and fatalities.

With headquarters in Pike County, Illinois, we presently have 109 chapter members in Pike, Adams, Brown, Calhoun and Scott counties. One of the Chapter's goals is to become more active in these and other Western Illinois counties.

The Western Illinois Chapter serves as one of two chapters nationwide that have been designated as Regional Coordinators to provide assistance and support for new and existing chapters or to groups who wish to establish a Farm Safety 4 Just Kids chapter.
