On December 28, 1995, Jeff, Cindy and Jordan Gerard of Pittsfield, Illinois lost their son and brother Colin in a farm accident.

     Just six years old, Colin's coat was caught in a power take-off and he was gone in minutes.

     The result of that tragic accident was the formation of the Western Illinois Chapter of Farm Safety 4 Just Kids dedicated to Colin's memory so that we may not lose any more of our precious children in farm accidents.

     A local chapter of the national Farm Safety 4 Just Kids organization, the Chapter's mission is "to promote a safe farm environment to prevent health hazards, injuries, and fatalities to children and youth."

     With headquarters in Pike County, Illinois, the Western Illinois Chapter has members in Pike, Adams, Brown, Calhoun and Scott counties. One of the Chapter's goals is to become more active in these and other Western Illinois counties.
