Grain Bin Rescue Training

On Saturday, August 28, 2010, the Western Illinois Chapter sponsored a four-hour training session in Pittsfield for fire fighters and other first responders in Pike and Scott counties on the proper techniques, procedures, and equipment needed to rescue individuals trapped in grain bins.

The training was conducted by the Safety and Technical Rescue Association (SATRA) of Livonia, Michigan, at no cost to the 60 first responders who attended. SATRA provides rapid response search and rescue services, and the SATRA Training Group offers a wide variety of certified emergency training to the agricultural and other industries. Facilities were provided by the Pittsfield Fire Department and lunch was provided by FS4JK.
